Role Description

This is a full-time, exempt* remote role for a Senior Civil Design Software Consultant. We are looking for a highly-skilled professional who combines technical expertise in civil engineering design with proficiency in software applications used for project planning, design, and documentation. They are responsible for providing expert advice, implementing solutions, and training others on the use of these software tools, particularly in the context of large-scale infrastructure projects.

Qualifications

Expertise in Civil Engineering Software:

  • Proficiency in software like AutoCAD, Civil3D, OpenRoads Designer, and others.

Technical Knowledge:

  • Deep understanding of site design, roadway design, and other civil engineering workflows.

Consulting and Training:

  • Providing expert advice, configuring software, and training users on its effective use.

Project Management:

  • Leading teams, managing project phases, and ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.

Communication and Collaboration:

  • Strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with various stakeholders, including engineers, clients, and contractors.

Problem Solving:

  • Identifying and resolving technical issues related to software usage and design challenges.

Staying Up-to-Date:

  • Keeping abreast of the latest advancements in civil engineering software and design methodologies.

Examples of Software Used:

• Bentley Systems Software: OpenRoads Designer, OpenBridge Modeler.

• Autodesk Software: Civil 3D, AutoCAD.

• Other Software: MX, Trimble.

Typical Duties:

• Software Implementation: Setting up and configuring software for new projects or upgrades.

• Training and Support: Providing training to users on software features and best practices.

• Problem Solving: Troubleshooting technical issues and providing solutions.

• Project Documentation: Creating and maintaining project documentation, including reports, specifications, and construction drawings.

• Collaboration: Working with project teams to ensure efficient use of software and adherence to design standards.

*This position is classified as exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and Wisconsin wage and hour laws. As such, the role is not eligible for overtime compensation. The duties of this role require the regular use of independent judgment and discretion, as well as advanced knowledge in a field of science or learning typically acquired through specialized education and professional experience, consistent with the administrative and professional exemptions defined by federal and state law.
